He/She should have a natural ability to interact with poise, a quintessential flair, and creativity. He/She must be able to showcase his/her strengths and knowledge to develop the team to be equipped with these talents.
Job Requirements
 
The successful candidate will be in charge of the wine department, plan the wine list selections at the direction of the GM, to liaise with suppliers, control and manage wine costs, ensures par stock and inventory are meticulously maintained, ensures the best quality of wine-related for the restaurant as well as general operations. Trains the staff on the regular basis. Fully engaged in front of the house operations – provides service to guests, takes orders, etc.
 
  • A current Sommelier / Head Sommelier
  • Experience in high volume restaurants and large banqueting
  • Strong focus on revenue generation
  • Experienced in managing diverse relationships, i.e.  Multi-Cultural and Multi-Racial teams as well as local communities.  High energy personality – engaging.
  • Experience and knowledge of Italian cuisine
  • Experience and knowledge in both Old and New World wines
  • A degree from a recognized hospitality institution / possess Sommelier certificate and/or have gained 3-5 years of medium management experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Public relations skills will be an added plus to promote the restaurant to media and guests.
  • Fluent in English
  • Able to commit to the restaurant's peak period including split-shifts, weekends, the eve of and public holidays
